Minutes



January 27, 2000



The meeting was called to order by Chairman John Christiansen, those in attendance were John Christiansen, Don Johnson, John Gover, Larry Gates, Al Davis, Roger Wood, Bill Theel, and Jerry Hart. The minutes form the October 1999 meeting was read by Sec/Tres John Gover, Don Johnson made a motion to except the minutes as read Roger Wood seconded the motion and all approved.



John Christiansen opened the floor on discussion on why the commissioners decided to cancel the upcoming LEPC exercise. It was decided to try to get a copy of the Commissioners meeting minutes on why the exercise was canceled.



Don Johnson made a motion to Purchase 6 Handheld radios that would be field programable and have 5 watt output and 32 scanning channels.

These radios would be purchased out of the Emergency Management budget and at a price not to exceed $400 each. Al Davis seconded the motion and all approved.



There was discussion on what to do with the van belonging to EMA, weather to keep it or to get rid of it. The item was tabled to future meetings.



Don Johnson made a motion to set the meeting dates for the LEPC year 2000 to be in February, April, June, August , October. Jerry Hart Seconded the motion. There were 7 for and 1 against, motion passed.



The group decided to Sponsor a weather spotter class in the 1st 2 weeks of March. Al Davis is to setup the date with the NWS.

The group is planning a Hazard Awareness class for May.



Collins Fire Department will Sponsor a LP Gas burn class in September.



The LEPC is planning a Operations Level Class for July or September 2000.



Don Johnson Made a motion to have the LEPC pay for John Gover's Fee's to attend the 2000 SEMA Conference and to have Emergency Management pay for John Christiansen's Fee's to the 2000 SEMA Conference. Al Davis Seconded the motion and all approved.



John Gover submitted a letter to the commissioners about the September 1999 LEPC meeting decision to have the LEPC pay for a Internet Connection at the Courthouse for Emergency Services to use to send in reports.



Al Davis made the motion to adjourn, Don Johnson Seconded and all approved.
