St. Clair County LEPC Meeting Minutes for July 26, 2007

 

Call to Order by John Christiansen at 19:02.

Those present: Robert Albertson, John Christiansen, Al Davis, Jerry Hart, Don Johnson, Jeanne Millsap, Paul Roberts, Roger Wood, Robert Wilcox, Gary Mitchell, and Don Schuster.

Minutes accepted as written for April – Motion by Al Davis, Second by Jerry Hart, All in favor.

Treasurer’s Report not given. Budget EMA is about gone. LEPC will be e-mailed.

Old Business:

Radio Grant – finished picking up last of the radios and turned them in.

            SCCHC radios – Brought back to Jeanne. John Christiansen will e-mail an MOU to Jeanne.

ID Badges – appointments are being made with Sheila Christiansen for taking pictures for badges.

Training:

Weather Spotters Training – November or January – John Christiansen is getting with Steve to make arrangements. A class will be held in Bolivar on August 28 at 7:00 pm at the CMH Community Room 1, call Office of Emergency Management in Bolivar to attend due to limited seating.

Mutual Aid Agreements - need to get more. John has received some.

Update on EOP – John Christiansen is working on this.

NIMS training – who need it and what (100, 700, 800, 200, 300, 400)? Motion to send the letter on NIMS training was made by Jerry Hart with second by Don Johnson, all in favor. Jeanne will send them out.

Telatask notification system – grant was sent in by Jeanne through the Citizens Corp/SEMA.

Sheltering – Family Services – Bob Wilcox and Gary Mitchell informed the group that Debbie Burns will be in charge of this. She is based out of Cedar County and can be contacted through St. Clair County or Cedar County Family Services Division. Bob was asking about Special Needs - communication and transportation in a disaster.

Grant LEPC funding – John Christiansen has talked to Dawn at State. John has more information.

New Business:

USDA – refurbished computers for fire departments – Don Schuster. Osage Valley RC&D has a grant that they are giving refurbished computers to rural fire departments. Don spoke about the computers and other projects that he does through USDA (such as grants for dry hydrant program, workshops on grant writing, fire wise communities, brush truck, and other training). Roscoe, Taberville and El Dorado Springs, as well as one other Fire Department in St. Clair County have a computer.  12 other computers are available. Don said some internet providers are giving free hook-ups to fire departments.

Roger Wood notified  us of the storm shelter progress in Collins. It should be completed by late Fall. It is made to hold 25 people. It will have propane heat/air/generator.

Don Johnson has not received his CEU’s yet. John Christiansen will check on this.

Jeanne notified everyone of: Community Guide for Pandemic Flu information sent to doctors, senior centers, and hospitals; Virginia Turkeys found with H5N1; CDC website for Pandemic Updates; Special Needs training; Safety and Security Conference for schools; WMD training; new definitions; Tips for working with interpreters; Region D Update; Public Health Symposium for Volunteers on August 2; Asked about a repeater in Osceola – none; asked about call signs for those present that are HAM Radio operators; and Emergency Support Function Public Information Call Center (PICC) forming in Springfield-Greene County.
